Cuban junior boxers will train in Russia for two weeks this month, as part of their preparation for major competitions in 2005.
The group is made up of Rosniel Iglesias, national champion in the 51-kg division, and other prominent boxers who participated in the Playa Girón Tournament, recently held in Cuba.
Cuban boxing experts pointed out that the training in Russia is aimed at improving the boxers' physical and technical conditions to compete in the world championship.
In that regard, they pointed out that Cuba is expected to give a good performance at the World Boxing Championship, scheduled for August in Pakistan.
The Cuban athletes also expect to compete in an international tournament in Russia, scheduled for late February.
Another group of junior boxers will stay in Cuba, where they will fight France's national team, who are expected to arrive in Havana a few weeks from now.
