Cuban Foreign Minister welcome UN Secretary General Koffi Annan
Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque went out on the tarmac at Jose Marti International Airport Thursday to welcome UN Secretary General Koffi Annan, who will attend the 14th Summit of the Non Aligned Movement in Havana.
The distinguished visitor, who will complete his term of office as leader of the United Nations in December, is attending the NAM Summit, with its 116 member nations, as a delegate.
Friday Annan will attend the Heads of State and Government segment of the Summit, where the majority are demanding a necessary and true reform of the international entity he represents.
The Presidents Hifikenpunye Pohamba, of Nambia, and Alfredo Palacio, of Ecuador also arrived at the airport Thursday afternoon, as did Botswana Vice President Iankhama Seretse Khaama.
