The most critical moment is over and I am satisfactorily recovering, said Cuban President Fidel Castro in a message to the people published by Granma newspaper Tuesday.
In the signed note dated September 4, the . s leader mentions some images published in recent days that people liked, although some say he seems a little thin.
Fidel stated he has lost 41 pounds, and said the last stitch was removed some days ago, after 34 days recovering from complicated intestinal surgery.
That situation obliged him to delegate provisionally his political and government responsibilities to First Vice President Raul Castro and the island s other top leaders.
The Cuban statesman said in the message that, "I don t stop a day, even the most difficult ones, working against adverse political consequences from such an unexpected health problem."
Fidel Castro said he will welcome distinguished visitors in coming days, which doesn t mean he is going to inform publicly of those meetings "although there will always be some news."
The note is accompanied by several photos in which Fidel Castro is sitting in an armchair, reading, taking down notes or looking directly the camera.
