Caribbean News : United Airlines expands service to the US Virgin Islands
Posted by adel on 2005/8/1 16:58:00 (598 reads)

United Airlines has announced three additional weekly flights from its hubs at Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) and Washington Dulles International (IAD), to Cyril E. King airport (STT) in St. Thomas, beginning Saturday, December 17, 2005.

Augmenting United Airlines’ existing service, the new flights between Chicago and Washington, D.C. to St. Thomas, are scheduled to maximize convenience and connections to the U.S. territory. The additional service will be operated with an Airbus (A-320) aircraft, with 12 first class and 126 coach class seats.

“We are very pleased about the success of United Airlines’ existing flights and the airline’s continued investment in the U.S. Virgin Islands,” stated Commissioner of Tourism Pamela C. Richards. “We’re excited about the opportunity to welcome additional travelers from around the world who now have more options for traveling to the U.S. Virgin Islands via two of the nation’s largest international airport gateways.”

United will fly three flights per week, on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday between Chicago and St. Thomas. The flight is scheduled to depart Chicago O'Hare International Airport at 8:20 AM, and arrive on St. Thomas at 3:03 PM (flight #1065). The return flight (flight # 1063) departs St. Thomas at 2:04 PM and arrives in Chicago at 7:03 PM.

Each week, United will offer four flights on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday between Washington, D.C. and St. Thomas. On Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday, flights are scheduled to depart Washington Dulles International Airport at 8:25 AM, and arrive in St. Thomas at 1:15 PM (flight # 1063).

The return flight (flight # 1065) departs St. Thomas at 3:59 PM and arrives in Washington, D.C. at 8:43 PM. The Thursday flight departs Washington, D.C. at 9:20 AM and arrives in St. Thomas at 2:10 PM (flight # 991). The return flight from St. Thomas departs at 3:20 PM and arrives in Washington, D.C. at 7:50 PM (flight # 991). All flights are now available for booking.
