The Speaker of Equatorial Guinea's House of Representatives, Salomon Nguema, thanked the Cuban government for the island's valuable medical assistance to his country.
According to AIN News Agency, the African leader and his delegation, who are on an official visit to Havana at the invitation of the Cuban Parliament, held talks Tuesday with the Head of the . Party Foreign Affairs Department Fernando Remirez de Estenoz.
Nguema said that his people are very happy with the service being offered in his country by Cuban doctors at 18 Guinean hospitals and he announced that another 52 Cuban medical specialists will join that work this year.
Remirez de Estenoz noted the historic relations between Cuba and the small West African nation that gained independence from Spain in 1968. He also referred to the common actions undertaken by the two countries to create a better world.
The Guinean delegation, which also includes lawmakers Maria del Carmen Andeme and Gabriel Mba Bela, toured the Havana-based Latin American School of Medicine and the Carlos J. Finlay Research Institute.
