Cardiology services in eastern Las Tunas province have reported good results in providing medical care to the local people.
The Ernesto Guevara Hospital, the main health institution in the province, has provided high-quality treatments to 500 patients suffering from heart ailments over the past 20 months.
Experts said that 110 patients suffered from heart attacks, adding that the mortality rate among patients admitted at the hospital during the said period is lower than 5 percent.
The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art technology used for diagnoses, research and specific treatments.
The equipment includes apparatuses for ambulatory monitoring, echocardiograms – which are very effective in children's cardiology – and image enhancers to implant pacemakers.
In addition, relatives receive reports about the patients' state of health at least three times a day.
