La Guabina is a farm located at about 10 km from Pinar del Río City. It is enclosed in a calm atmosphere of mountains, valleys and a lagoon. It is the perfect place to combine a relaxing stay with the excitement of activities that requires physical exercise, like long walks, horseback riding , strolls by horse-drawn carriage or rowing boat at the lagoon. With an extension of about 1000 hectares, several economical activities are developed here such as: agriculture, cattle ranch, rabbits and cocks fight; and the most important and emblematic the raising and genetic improvement of Cuban horses like Pinto Cubano and Apaloosa. The farm is called La Guabina which is the name of a fish that inhabits in the river and adjacent lakes. The property has a house with 5 rooms, and 3 independent cabins; a private restaurant for guests, barbecue and bar and the lunch is offered in a typical Cuban construction called ranchón. La Guabina history goes back to the early years of the 20th Century, when first, a Spanish family and later the Ferro’s Cuban family developed the activities that are so popular nowadays.
