Sponsored by the Craftsmanship Center of the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets, the contest is aimed at bringing those kinds of products closer to the people.

It is also aimed at achieving quality standards in the manufacture of handcrafts for the tourism industry, among other alternatives.

Design, quality, functionality, possible manufacture, cost and price are some of the aspects to be evaluated by the juries, made up of prominent artists.

In the case of western Pinar del Río province, the best works will be exhibited and sold at the International Handicraft Fair FIART'2004.
