University Presidents Meeting Opens in Havana
The meeting -promoted by Cuba´s Higher Education Minister and Brazil´s Association of Federal Universities and Institutes- will aim at identifying actions plans within the framework of both countries relations and develop concrete missions with higher education centers.
Dr. Ana Lucia Almeida Gazzola of the Federal University of Minas Gerais and president of Brazilian association is leading the Brazilian delegation of 32 university presidents and 40 other officials.
Participants in the event will analyze issues around postgraduate courses and research, double majors, the universalization of education, academic exchange and promote the next event called "Cuban Higher Education: University 2006."
The event will also include activities on sustainable agriculture, stockbreeding, milk quality, biotechnology, pharmacology, natural and traditional medicine, medical equipment, human health and welfare, among others.
The Brazilian university presidents will visit different Cuban universities to learn of this nation´s work in science.
