New technologies have been installed in Cienfuegos to process plastic for its re-incorporation into the industry.

The plastic-recycling plant produces 20 tons of that raw material a year, including 10 tons of mixed plastic and 10 tons of granulated plastic.

The raw material is supplied to the company PLASTIMEC, which produces industrial and domestic items.

Another company, POLIALBA, produces plastic bags for market purchases and garbage.

Plastic recycling is of major importance, because it takes some 500 years for plastic to disintegrate in nature, so it is extremely aggressive to the environment.
