Pope John Paul II Is Paid Homage
Armando Hart Dávalos, director of José Martí Program Office, opened the photography release by cutting the symbolic ribbon and so heading visitors into the hall. In attendance were Abel Prieto, member of the Political bureau of Cuba’s . Party and Culture Minister.
Eusebio Leal, Havana’s Historian Office Director highlighted the late Pope was Cuba’s true friend as he many times and in many ways expressed.

Leal stated that Pope’s legacy makes history because he knew how to face 20th c. huge challenges mainly war which so much he rejected like good men do. He fought for peace and love.
The exhibit running until the 22nd this month comprises 56 photos of Cuban Statesman to Vatican in 1996, his encounter with His Holiness as well as the Pope visit to the island in 1998.
Also present were José Miyar, secretary of the State Council, ranking leaders of the Party and State, Luigi Bonazzi, Apostolic Nuncio to Cuba, and some local Catholic representatives.
Likewise, the release shows several of commemorative coins and medals so portraying Karol Wojtyla´s dedicated life, work and service for 26 years at the Vatican, being the third longest in the Papacy history.
