A Place for Archeology in Eastern Cuba
According to local officials, several decades of research on primitive cultures allowed experts to find 128 aboriginal settlements.
Working tools, personal objects and even idols that belonged to Siboney or Taino communities have been found during excavations.
Santiago de Cuba and Guamá, two municipalities on the south coast of the Cuban archipelago, hold the largest number of archeological sites.
Among those sites are Damajayabo, in the Baconao Park; Ventas de Casanova, in Contramaestre, and La Luz, in Songo-La Maya.
In addition, three aboriginal collections are on display at the Tomás Romay and Emilio Bacardí museums, and the University of Oriente.
