From January to date, the company has produced one million tons of crude at a lower cost and from new wells.

The firm, one of the main oil companies in the country, is expected to produce 1.74 million tons of oil and 494 million cubic meters of gas this year.

The company uses state-of-the-art technology to extract oil and drill new wells, in addition to implementing initiatives to reduce operation costs.

Last year, the company produced 41 percent of the country's total oil output.

Cuban oil is heavy, so it is used in cement factories and to generate electricity, thus reducing imports.
