New Technology on 165th Anniversary of Cuban Hospital
The hospital, founded 165 years ago, is the oldest of its kind that is still operating in Cuba, as part of a health system aimed at improving people's quality of life.
Ultrasound, X ray and laboratory equipment have been installed in the hospital, where local residents receive medical care.
One piece of equipment is used to examine the cerebral blood flow to detect brain death, while another is used to perform up to 30 kinds of blood tests.
Matanzas province has also benefited from the construction of 11 rehabilitation wards and 11 intensive care units.
In addition, two hemodialysis wards were inaugurated in the municipalities of Cárdenas and Colón.
