According to sources from the health sector, several of those facilities have already been inaugurated, while equipment is being installed in others.

The physiotherapy and rehabilitation facilities have two doctor's offices and provide 23 different treatments to the local people, who do not have to pay for the services.

The services include podiatry, mud therapy, laser, occupational therapy, paraffin, infrared treatment, ultrasound, traction, diathermia, electrotherapy and acupuncture.

According to experts, this kind of facility contributes to improving the people's quality of life, because they bring services closer to patients who need rehabilitation.

Construction of the said facilities is part of Cuban authorities' strategy to improve medical care.
