New Namibian President Meets Cuban Vice-President
Lazo was in the African country heading a Cuban delegation to the 15th anniversary of Namibian independence, reported Granma daily on Wednesday.
After reviewing the strong friendship links and history that bind the two nations, the African leader praised the humanist vocation of the more than 200 Cuban professionals who are collaborating towards the development of Namibia in the most diverse areas.
Pohamba recalled that thanks to the decisive help of many Cubans, Namibia was liberated from the apartheid system. He also sent his greetings to Cuban President Fidel Castro.
After talks with the Namibian president on bilateral relations and the complex international situation, Lazo traveled to Pretoria, South Africa.
He was received there by Vice-President Jacob Zuma with whom he talked about cooperation in the fields of medicine, construction and hydraulic resources.
Both leaders also pronounced themselves in favor of substantialtransformations in the international organizations in order to allow Third World Nations to access development.
