New Medical Facilities in Guantánamo
Local health authorities pointed out that intensive care wards have opened in all ten municipalities of the province.
The initiative has helped to save 400 lives in less than a year, in addition to reducing the mortality rate of patients suffering from heart attacks.
The intensive care units back up the work of hospitals located in away-from-it-all places, especially in mountainous areas.
Before the inauguration of the intensive care units, patients had to travel long distances from their homes to the hospitals.
The wards are equipped with the necessary facilities to provide health care in cases of vascular accidents, cranial-encephalic traumas and bone fractures, among other emergencies.
