New Facilities for Tourism in Granma
The hotel was reopened after being closed for six months, during which renovation works were carried out in various areas of the establishment.
The closure also affected the Marea del Portillo Hotel, due – among other factors – to a drop in tourist arrivals and limited commercialization of the establishments.
During the six-month closure, the trails for nature tourism were renovated and the staff took training courses.
In 2003, 70,000 foreign vacationers visited the region, but that number is expected to be slightly lower this year, due to the abovementioned problems.
In order to boost the recovery of the tourism sector, Granma authorities have designed extra-hotel offers to complement the historic and cultural attractions of the province.
