New Cardiology Wards in Eastern Cuba
The cardiology services opened at the Ernesto Guevara de la Serna Hospital in August 2003, after construction of a ward equipped with state-of-the-art technology.
Six cardiologists, an intensive-care clinicist and 30 nurses work at the ward, thus efficiently attending to patients suffering from heart problems.
In order to do their work properly, they have precise equipment both at the emergency ward and at the hospital's outpatient offices.
The ward has 20 beds for patients who need hospitalization. They are treated with the rigor demanded by heart diseases. Each cubicle has a defibrillator, and multipurpose monitors to control medications and follow up on the patient's clinical evolution.
