Nacional de Cuba, The Best Hotel in the World
Respondents voted for 194 establishments, including the Nacional de Cuba, which is the Caribbean Island's flag hotel.
The hotel, declared World Heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), finished in the third position in the previous ElmundoViajes.com Survey.
On this occasion, the Nacional de Cuba displaced the La Mamounia Hotel (Marrakech, Morocco), while the Ritz Hotel (Paris) took the third position.
The Nacional de Cuba Hotel has more than 400 rooms (including 16 suites and a Presidential suite), an executive floor, Internet café and several bars, restaurants, cafeterias, shops, Cigar House and the Parisién Cabaret.
With a decades-old history, the hotel has received outstanding politicians, such as British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and world-renowned artists like Frank Sinatra, Ava Gardner, María Félix and Jorge Negrete.
