Meliá Cayo Coco Hotel Seeks Environmental Acknowledgement
The five-star, 250-room hotel holds the Candidate to Responsible Tourism certificate, granted by Cuba's Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment.
That recognition is granted to establishments that have taken a series of environmental actions to preserve nature, including the efficient use of water and energy, and integration of the tourist product into the surrounding nature.
The certificate is valid for three years in order to encourage hotels to continue to implement an environmental policy in their work in favor of the leisure industry.
Unknown landscapes such as Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo have become internationally famous among those seeking sun and beaches, because their well-preserved flora and fauna reinforce their tourist values.
Jardines del Rey stretches along the north coast of eastern Ciego de Avila province and is part of the Sabana-Camagüey Archipelago, the largest of four archipelagos surrounding the Island of Cuba and made up of 2,500 cays and islets.
