Transformed during three generations, Bitter End is now a rollicking nautical village. In celebration of its 30th anniversary on Monday, a week of activities have been planned.

These include fireworks, dinner parties, live entertainment and water sports for every guest.

To kick off the weeklong celebration, the Oscars will be televised in the Sand Palace on Sunday and guests can take part in a special trivia contest.

Guests will join the Hokin family and staff on Bitter End's formal anniversary on Monday for a party complete with fireworks, live entertainment and a gala dinner on North Sound. After the fireworks, a DJ will entertain the crowd at the pub.

An authentic West Indian barbecue will be held on the beach along with live entertainment by Jump Up band Frontline.

"We truly appreciate all of our guests that have chosen to vacation at Bitter End for the last 30 years and welcome those coming for the first time," said Dana Hokin, managing partner.

She said 2005 is a milestone year for the family at Bitter End and they are looking forward to celebrating it with all the friends they have made throughout the years.

Stretching along a mile of beach and marina waterfront on North Sound, Bitter End Yacht Club targets water sports enthusiasts.

The North Sound is one of the largest and most protected noncommercial harbors in the Caribbean.

The Bitter End resort includes more than 77 beachfront guest rooms, the world's largest complimentary fleet of more than 100 watercraft, 70 moorings and 20 slips, an on-site sailing school, regularly scheduled snorkeling excursions, two restaurants, bakery, emporium, shops, a pool and several private beaches.

The property is consistently recognized by leading travel publications as a top Caribbean vacation destination.
