The acknowledgement is granted after a rigorous inspection by officials from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment.

In order to apply for the certificate, the hotel has to meet a series of requisites to solve quality problems previously detected in the establishment.

Several Cuban hotels have received the Environmentally Responsible Tourism Certificate, especially in Varadero, where environmentally-friendly tourism is a top priority.

In that regard, the authorities in the resort will implement the Sustainable Tourism System.
