Havana removes architectural barriers
The architectural barriers for differently abled people have been eliminated in Havana´s 19 municipalities, as a contribution to social integration of those people and uplifting their self-esteem.
Osvaldo Hidalgo Dominguez, president of the Cuban Association of Physical and Motor Disabled People (ACLIFIM) in that territory, told AIN that those people are more useful now and fewer dependants on the rest.
He said conditions have been created to allow access of those people to health, education, commercial, food, cultural, and recreational centers.
He asserted that the ACLIFIM in Havana counts on more than 700 members, who are more related each time to work, education, and other activities, as proven by the second national position obtained in table tennis and awards in cultural events.
He added that the organization won the status of Meritorious entity for the second time, while San Jose de Las Lajas, Alquizar, Mariel, and Quivican municipalities are considered outstanding for their results.
