Soloists and groups that cultivate that musical genre will meet in Havana to exchange experiences and opinions about the future of rumba.

The program will include an annual competition of rumba dancers, who will pay tribute to "yambú", "guaguancó" and "columbia" (dances of African origin). Participants in the contest will compete for a Grand Award and medals.

The rumba festival will be held in La Salaya tenement building, in Centro Habana municipality, where cultural authorities are among the main sponsors of the event.

The 1st Rumba Festival will pay tribute to prominent rumba performers such as Orlando and Manuel Alonso, Mario Dreke, Francisco Mora and Ricardo Gómez Santa Cruz.

Among the groups that will participate in the festival is the world-renowned "Muñequitos de Matanzas", one of the best groups in the country.
