Great Interest in Cuba's National Baseball Series
With the beginning of 2005, all 16 teams competing in the event have played one-third of the games programmed for the series, and some teams are already the favorites to qualify for the playoffs.
Pinar del Río leads Group A of the western zone, after winning 23 games and losing 13. It is eight games ahead from the second place.
Industriales – the champion of the two latest National Series – is the leader in Group B, after displacing Havana from the first place, becoming the team with more victories in the Series (25).
In the eastern zone, Ciego de Avila and Las Tunas are equal in Group C, scoring 22 victories and 14 defeats. Camagüey follows them with 18 wins and 18 defeats.
Santiago de Cuba leads Group D with 23 victories and 13 defeats, five games ahead from Granma, which is in the second position of the group.
