Good Work of Emergency Services in Cuba Highlighted
The province has seven such facilities, which have treated more than 1,000 patients in less than a year.
Experts said that 55 percent of patients treated in those units have overcome their serious health condition, so there was no need to transfer them to intensive care units in the provincial capital.
The high technological level of the units and the high qualification of the personnel guarantee excellent results in the Municipal Intensive Units, thus improving the quality of the national health system.
The most frequent ailments treated in the units are cerebral-vascular and cardiovascular problems, especially heart attacks.
These ailments, as well as accidents, are the major causes of death in Cuba, where the national health system has implemented strategies to reduce and treat those health problems.
