According to Cuban experts, Maricela Duarte and Yasnalis Law finished in the first and second places, respectively, at the Central American Open Laser Radial Championship.

In statements to reporters, Isaac Zabiski, president of the Cuban Sailing Federation, highlighted Duarte's performance. He finished second in the general qualification, only preceded by Rolando Aguayo, from the Dominican Republic.

In addition, Law finished in the sixth place among 26 boats, including seven crewed by women.

Teams from the Dominican Republic, Mexico, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Cuba, in addition to the host country, competed in the championship.
