From January to date, some 500 foreign tourists have stayed in those facilities, where they can be in direct contact with nature.

That number is higher than last year's visits, thus showing growing demand for that tourist modality.

Founded in 1982, the Popular Camping company runs facilities by rivers, and in mountainous areas, rural historic places and major archeological sites.

Precisely, there are four such facilities in Granma, one of which is in Las Coloradas beach, from where vacationers can also visit the marine terraces in Cabo Cruz and Guafe's archeological trail.

The other facilities are Salto de Jibacoa, Los Cantiles and La Sierrita. The latter is located in Sierra Maestra, Cuba's largest mountain range.
