Experts in Ciego de Avila Favor Public Health
That is the case of the Antonio Luaces Iraola Hospital, where the life of more than 700 patients have been saved at its cardiology ward over the past two and a half years.
The hard work of a group of experts and technicians has allowed reducing the mortality rate among chronic patients or those suffering from acute heart attacks to 13 percent, one of the lowest rates in Cuba.
Experts said that this achievement resulted from the installation of modern equipment to monitor the cardiovascular system 24 hours a day.
In addition, the hospital has a thoracic unit, which is the first of its kind outside the Cuban capital and is indispensable for doctors to follow the evolution of patients suffering from thoracic pain.
