Documents Linked to Ernest Hemingway Restored
The restoration of the texts, found in La Vigía Estate, resulted from an agreement between Cuba's National Council for Cultural Heritage and the Social Science Research Council, from the United States.
The project will involve some 1,500 documents, including letters, the original manuscript of famous works written by the world-renowned novelist and photographs.
Many of the documents are related to Hemingway's pastimes, including hunting and sports fishing, bullfighting and boxing, and his participation in World War I and the Spanish Civil War.
The most common problems affecting the documents are acidification, infection and the fixing of ink on the paper, as a consequence of Cuba's very hot and humid climate.
