Cuba's Best Performance at Chess Olympics
The men's team finished in the seventh position, after a two-two tie with Israel in the final round of the tournament.
The Cuban players scored 33.5 points, finishing among the elite countries in the tournament, which was attended by 127 teams.
The Cubans defeated Pakistan, Iceland, Latvia, the Netherlands, Uzbekistan, Denmark, India and Slovenia, and tied with Georgia and Israel. They lost to Ukraine, Russia, France and China.
Besides, Grand Masters Leinier Domínguez and Lázaro Bruzón finished among the top ten players in the tournament and added points to their ELO score.
Domínguez won five games, tied five and lost one, while Bruzón won six games, tied four and lost one.
