Zoila Barros, a member of the women's team, was chosen the most outstanding player after competing in major international tournaments last year.

The list of best athletes also includes Yumilka Ruiz, Daimí Ramírez, Marta Sánchez, Nancy Carrillo, Yaima Ortiz, Liana Mesa and Rosir Calderón.

These athletes made the Cuban team that won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

The best player in the men's team was Henry Bell, while Tamara Larrea and Dalixia Fernández were the best beach volleyball players, after finishing between the 9th and the 12th places at the Athens games.

In the junior category, Oriol Camejo was chosen the best player at the NORCECA tournament, held in Winnipeg, Canada, where Cuba finished first.
