Cuban Summer Opens with Fun
Cuban town squares are full of people having fun this weekend with the begining of summer holidays.
The concert of the popular singer Haila on Friday night in Havana was preamble to the Summer for the People program, organized by student and youth organizations.
The central avenue 23 was filled with crowds of people going to the Cuba Pavilion for an art fair. Sales of Cuban music recordings, pictures, silk screen prints, articles and books aroused people´s interest.
All over the country citizens enjoied different kind of activities like dog shows, circus presentations and concerts.
Early in the morning a marathon left from Havana University, while in several places of the city, among them the . Square, there were chess, volleyball and soccer games.
There was a book fair in the complex Morro-Cabaña, where more than hundred Cuban and foreign titles were presented. In the open spaces of the monumental complex, companies of dance, theater and marionettes also performed for people´s enjoyment.
