Cuban Soccer Team to Play Haitian and German Peers in January

The match will be held at the Silvio Cator stadium in Port-au-Prince that can hold more than 20,000 fans, and has synthetic grass, among other facilities.

National Federation Chairman Luis Hernandez trusts the team"s excellent preparation to play for victory at a place they are already familiar with. The team already scores a historic record for the discipline of nine wins in 2004.

Head coach Armelio Luis said he will introduce key changes for the match --Disney Aquino for Livan Perez and Luis Marten for Yeinier Alcantara-to better balance the midfield and inject dynamism at the line of attacks.

The team is also made up of Odelin Molina and Vismel Castellanos (goalkeepers), Alexander Cruzata, Yeinier Marquez, Silvio Pedro Miñoso, Reysander Fernandez, Pedro Pablo Pereira and Mario Pedraza as fullbacks.

And mid-fielders Jaime Colome, Livan Perez, Gisbert Morales, Pedro Faife, Alain Cervantes and Jorge Ramirez Rondon, plus goalies Lester MorE, Serguei Prado, Maikel Galindo and Reinier Alcantara.

Maximo Iznaga will coach the goal- keepers and Raul Gonzalez and Rolando Rodriguez will assist Luis in field training.

Cuba has played 24 official matches to Haiti from 1934 scoring five wins. Havana"s Pedro Marrero Stadium will hold the return match on Jan.16 at Pedro Marrero Stadium, in Havana.

The opening of the preliminaries for the Golden Cup 2005 in United States ends with the matches Jamaica vs. French Guyana and Trinidad Tobago vs. St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The winners, together with Barbados as host will play the final from Febraury 20-24

The also known as Digicel Cup qualifies three of the four participants for the Golden Cup, main tournament for ex CONCACAF countries, in July in United States, gathering 12 countries from North and Central America and the Caribbean, plus two guest teams.

Also Cuba"s under-23 and senior teams will play the German soccer team Sankt Pauli on Jan. 18 and 22nd. The visitors belong to the
regional league of Hamburg (3rd division).

Sankt Pauli (founded in 1910), has reached the first division on four occasions, and became the first organization to ban xenophobic or racist attitudes in its stadium.

The match with the team under-23 will be in Zulueta, Villa Clara, and the second game with the senior team will be in Havana"s Pedro Marrero Stadium, are thought to help both teams, especially the seniors, ready for the Golden Cup.
