Cuban Orchestra Performs at Forum of Cultures
The Cuban band played traditional "son", salsa, cha cha cha, danzón and guaracha (all Cuban rhythms).
Pianist Manolo Simonet is the director of the band, which is made up of string and metal instruments, and percussion, and covers a wide spectrum of Cuban music.
Manolito y Su Trabuco, which has released six CDs, has become one of Cuba's major orchestras and has performed in Portugal, Norway, Sweden, France and Belgium.
The band played songs from their latest CD, "Locos por mi Habana" (Crazy about My Havana), which differs from previous records because it only has two vocalists, thus returning to more traditional Cuban rhythms.
