Cuban-Made Batteries to Be More Competitive
The company, founded 25 years ago, is equipped with Japanese and Italian technology and produces a wide range of products that have successfully hit the Italian, Spanish and Mexican markets.
At present, the company meets domestic and international demands, producing batteries ranging from 34 to 210 amperes hour, in the BCI (American), JIS (Japanese) and DIN (European) standards.
Experts are working on the development of polypropylene batteries to make the product more competitive, although the plant is still producing big batteries (185 amperes) for trucks and heavy equipment.
The factory currently meets 70 percent of the Cuban market's demand, a percentage that is likely to increase due to regulations on battery imports.
The company's major clients in Cuba are DIVEP, the sugar and dairy industries, and the firms Tractoimport and Construimport.
