Cuban Leisure Industry Shows Signs of Growth
According to sources from the tourism sector, destinations such as Jardines del Rey (King's Garden), Holguín, the beach resort of Varadero and Havana, the Cuban capital, have reported good results in recent months.
Among the Island's main markets, Canada, Great Britain, Spain and Italy top the list, and prospects are promising for the winter season.
At present, Cuba offers more than 40,000 rooms in 270 hotels, most of which are four- and five-star establishments.
Cuba is working to improve quality in the leisure industry, and authorities expect to receive 2.1 million foreign vacationers this year.
The sector's strategy is aimed at diversifying the markets with an eye to keeping the growth rate reported over the past 12 years.
