Cuban Hotel Groups Improve Positions in World Ranking
According to a survey carried out recently by the specialized magazine "Hotels", the group Cubanacán S.A placed in the 65th position last year, moving up from the 69th place in 2002.
The Hotel Group Gran Caribe S.A. moved up one place (from the 83rd to the 82nd). Both companies are among the best-placed firms in Latin America, only preceded by the Mexican consortium Posadas Management.
In addition, Gaviota S.A., which did not make the world ranking in 2002, ranked in the 115th position among the top 300 hotel groups regarding the number of rooms.
Among the foreign hotel chains running hotels in Cuba under administration contracts, the best-placed group was France's Accor (fourth place), followed by the Spanish consortiums Sol Meliá (12th) and NH Hotels (24th).
