Marin was the president of the Chilean . Party (PCCh) and a great friend of Cuba.

Miguel Alvarez, supervisor of the Presidency of the Cuban Parliament, told Prensa Latina that besides participating in the ceremony where wide sectors of the Chilean society will be represented, Alarcon is a carrier of the condolences of the Cuban people.

He said that Marin was a leader that went beyond her political force, and had earned prestige in Cuba and other countries because of her tenacity, example and experience.

The funeral of Gloria Marin is being held in the host building of the National Parliament of Chile, where thousands of followers, comrades and friends filled the place since Sunday night.
