Cuba Reaches One-Million-Tourist Mark in 2004
According to a communiqué from the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR), the one-million-tourist mark was reached earlier than in 2003, when the number one-million foreign vacationer arrived in the Island on June 29.
In that regard, MINTUR pointed out that Cuba is likely to receive two million foreign tourists this year for the first time in the history of Cuban tourism.
According to MINTUR, during the first four months of 2004, tourist arrivals increased 11.8 percent, compared to the same period last year.
As a tourist destination, Cuba has raised expectations, and statistics show that vacationers are betting on tourism of peace, health and safety.
MINTUR acknowledged the excellent work of tour operators, travel agencies, airlines, hotel chains and the specialized media, which have greatly contributed to these results.
