Cuba Promotes Use of Bamboo
According to experts, the meeting consisted of theoretical sessions on the use of that plant to build houses and facilities for ecotourism.
The event was attended by students, masons and carpenters from the provinces of Villa Clara, Holguín, Granma and Santiago de Cuba, where initiatives have been implemented using bamboo as a raw material.
The experts described bamboo as vegetal steel, because it is flexible and resistant, and it is very useful in places with marked seismic characteristics.
Bamboo grows and matures faster than other plant species, and it is also used to make furniture, bridges and musical instruments.
