Officials from the organizing committee pointed out that Cuba was chosen to hold the event at the assembly of the International Amateur Theater Association (AITA), made up of 83 member countries.

The festival will be held at the Morro-Cabaña park, the traditional venue of Havana's International Book Fair, under the motto "Children are the hope of the world", a well-known phrase by José Martí.

Among the children's group that will participate in the festival are Sesimiz (Belgium), Vanta dance (Finland), Foro 4, Pahpaki and Cletito feliz (Mexico), Bruderhof Youth Theatre (United States), D-Movimiento (Venezuela), Young People Theatre (United Kingdom), Zagreb (Croatia), and Casa de la Cultura de Santa Rosa (Honduras).

Cuba will be represented by La Colmenita, La Andariega, Arlequín, Nueva Revelación, En el Bosque and La edad de Oro, among other groups.
