Cuba Boosts Production of Ecological Honey
According to experts, ecological honey is highly quoted in the international market, where the price of a ton is above 2,500 dollars.
The ecological certification is granted to a kind of food or agricultural produce that is obtained without using chemicals or a complex industrial process, so it is declared clean and healthier.
International standardization agencies have certified the honey produced in a score of municipalities in eastern Cuba.
Other producers is working to have their honey certified as ecological in a medium term, so 65 percent of the region's total output will receive that category.
Granma and Santiago de Cuba provinces have made great contributions to the country's economy by having a large part of production certified as ecological.
