According to the local weekly newspaper Vanguardia, kidney transplant surgical operations were made on brothers Lisbiel Borges Sánchez, 23, and donor and Lisván, 29, and receiver. So far both patients keep stable vital signs following the said operations.

In face of the possibility to replace the damaged organ for a healthy one, Liván´s brother decided to donate one of his own so that his only brother could get his health back. Short after the regular health tests made, doctors discovered that both the potential donor and the receiver shared compatibility required to carry out a satisfactory transplant operation.

To these already known outcomes, others not less notable made by the same staff at the same Villa Clara´s health institution from 2001 on are added.

Surgeon Paulino Hernández says there are 143 cases still waiting for kidney transplant, of which about 40 with live donors will be executed this year, and that they have just got three pairs more under research; a surgical move whose average cost ranges from $ 50 thousand dollars to $ 60 worldwide.
