Costa Rican University Students Support Cuban Cause

In all, 223 Costa Ricans have signed the document presented in Havana on March 14 to expose Washington's attempt to condemn Cuba at the 61st Session of the UN Commission on Human Rights.

The support of the student group came Tuesday during a showing of the documentary Mission against Terror, which denounces the injustices committed against five Cubans held as political prisoners in the US for fighting terrorism.

After the film, Gladys Paez Curz, from the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP), described the rigged Miami trial of the Cuban Five: Tony Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino and Fernando Gonzalez, in flagrant violation of their legal rights.

A report by the Cuban Consulate in San Jose confirms that the Costa Rican students also signed a text issued by Costa Rican human rights organizations to demand the immediate liberation of the Cuban Five.

Paez Curz also highlighted the significant results and achievements in Cuba regarding human rights and in initiating new social programs to achieve a more equal redistribution of the national wealth.
