The surgical procedure, known as keratoplasty, has been carried out 60 times over the past two years, thus meeting the needs from five eastern provinces.

According to experts, the province has an eye bank that guarantees surgery, which allows patients to recover their sight.

Keratoplasty is also performed with therapeutic ends, and is combined with other procedures in cases like cataract, intraocular lens implants and damage of the ocular structure.

In addition to vision recovery, in many cases, surgery is performed with esthetic ends, thus contributing to the patient's psychological well-being.
