Community Work against Hypertension in Cuba
Experts in Integral General Medicine are carrying out community work to improve their knowledge of the disease.
As a key element, the experience includes fluid exchange between health personnel and the people, with the goal of fighting hypertension, a serious risk factor for health in the world.
Every week, family doctors, who are the main promoters of the initiative, explain to patients suffering from high blood pressure how they can keep their disease under control by having a healthier lifestyle and taking their medicine.
The preventive strategy includes educational and promotional measures aimed at reducing the incidence of hypertension, and raising people's awareness on some of the causes of the disease, including high cholesterol levels in blood and high consumption of alcohol and table salt.
