Casa de las Américas Composition Award Jury in Havana
The jury is made up of the maestros León Biriotti (Uruguay), Manuel Mejías (Mexico), Carlos Alberto Vázquez (Puerto Rico), and Roberto Valera and Guido López-Gavilán (Cuba).
On this occasion, 35 musical compositions for small-format symphonic groups are competing in the contest.
Contestants come from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Cuba.
According to experts, the works in competition show what Latin American composers are doing in the field of chamber music.
The 14th edition of the Forum of Caribbean Composers will be held parallel to the contest.
