Camagüey Hotels Receive Environmental Acknowledgment
The annual award considers the establishments' contribution to preserving the environment by saving water and energy.
It also considers the use of biodegradable inputs, compliance with hygiene and health regulations, economic benefits and the community's opinion.
The Colón Hotel, built in 1927, has 47 rooms and receives guests from France, Italy and Germany, mainly.
The Gran Hotel was built in 1939 and has 72 rooms, mainly for guests from Germany, France and Holland.
Eight Islazul hotels applied for the award, which was also granted to the Mirador de San Diego Hotel, in western Pinar del Río province, and Villa Santo Domingo, in the Sierra Maestra Mountain Range, in eastern Granma province.
